We reported on the Linksys WMCE54AG Dual-Band Wireless A/G Media Center Extender last week, but now Linksys has officially launched the product and says that it will be available for sale at the end of the month. According to Microsoft's Media Center Extender page (Oct. 2005), there are only two manufactures licensed to produce Media Center Extenders and they are Linksys and HP, which both use wireless 802.11a/g and are priced at $299.

So is there anything difference between the Linksys and HP Media Center Extenders? The simple answer is no. They even look identical except for the color scheme and the logo.

What users can do with the new Wireless A/G Media Center Extender:

Choose the digital video content you want to watch, and select where and when you want to watch it

3 anmerkungen:

usb: ports sind zwar vorhanden (und stehen als schnittstellen auf dem kartoon angegeben), was aber nicht heissen soll, das man diese auch nutzen kann. in der anleitung steht "the usbports are not used at this time".

dvd: der button dvd-menue ist zwar auf der fernbedienung und auf dem cartoon steht "full function, infrared remote controll".

video inputs: auf dem cartoon steht audio und video inputs, jedoch sind das nur eingänge. es sind zwar gelber cinch, svhs, und rgb cinch sowie spdif vorhanden, jedoch sind das alles nur eingänge.

alles in allem wohl doch eine große mogelpackung, denn wer möchte schon auf dvd verzichten? und was wenn man mal eine platte mit filmen anschliessen möchte?!?

normalerweise müßte man die verklagen - wer weiß wieviele millionen us $ man bekommt, bei den summen die einem da zugesprochen werden im ami land!

Nach meinen Informationen ist dieses Gerät nicht für den europäischen Markt geplant.

Sied nicht gut aus

Hallo:

Obwohl das Linksys WMCE54AG kaum in Europa erhältlich ist könnt Ihr es bei www.pcconnection.com in den USA telefonisch bestellen. Es kostet dort US$ 250 (¤ 205). Braucht allerdings eine Kreditkarte. Das Gerät wurde mir drei Tage nach der Bestellung an die Wohnungstür geliefert und funktioniert bestens. Das eingebaute Netzteil schaltet zwischen 110V (USA) und 220V. Musst einfach den Stecker für den Strom austauschen oder einen US-Adapter zwischenschalten. Keine Probleme mit NTSC (USA) und PAL. PTME in der Schweiz bietet das Gerät für Sfr. 520 (¤ 336) an, aber auch da kommt noch etwas Zoll etc. dazu.

nutzt einer von euch, das gerät mit sat?

mich würde mal interessieren ob mittlerweile der ton bei pro7 und sat1 geht (habe das gerät vor über einem jahr selber gehabt, nach der umstellung auf sat, konnte ich das gerät nicht mehr verwenden, da das gerät nur stereo konnte, aber die oben genannten sender ac3 sendeten - aber da ja mitlerweile über ein jahr her ist und das sicherlich per software regelbar ist, dachte ich mir: frag doch mal die anderen kollegen )?
